Kenan graduated from Ball State University in 1999, where he studied Television & Radio Broadcast Production and Telecommunications.
After returning home to Chicago, Kenan began his post-production and editing career first as runner, then an assistant editor at The Whitehouse, formally known as The Lookinglass Co. There, he began to learn the trade under the guidance of editor Erik Powell, one among many other talented editors and designers. He then spent a short stint, his first, in music. First in music marketing & promotions, then as a studio assistant at the legendary Chicago Trax Recording Studio.
Kenan then joined the creative team at Machete in the summer of 2003. Upon his return to post-production at Machete, Kenan began assisting editor Marty Bernstein. Through his efforts first as an assistant, then through editing his own spots, he has since worked on an array of projects with clients such as McDonald's, Kohler, Procter & Gamble, Disney, Emerson, Philips, Toyota, Office Max, the TBS Superstation, and the Chicago Bulls.
At Machete for over six years, Kenan continued his growth both as a Creative Editor, and then into Music Coordination at Machete. He established and sustained strong creative partnerships with advertising creative teams at Leo Burnett, Burrell Communications, DiMeo & Co, and The Escape Pod, to name a few.
Kenan currently serves as a Creative Editor for various projects when requested as a freelance artist. He also continues to expand his work in music marketing, licensing, and supervision, assisting the efforts of world-class composers and Platinum & Gold award-winning producers, and their navigation into the world of broadcast television, film, advertising, gaming, and interactive media.
